Freedom Illegal Logging Policy (Issued March 2025)
NO ASBESTOS DECLARATION
Australia bans the importation of Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) in any form.
Suppliers must complete this declaration confirming items being shipped do not contain any form of ACM.
Australia has strict requirements for these materials in two areas: Illegal Logging and compliance with Quarantine requirements for the importation of these materials

Compliance with the Australian Illegal Logging Act
The Australian Illegal Logging Act 2012 bans the importation or local processing of timber that is sourced illegally
Key Elements of the Law
Element 1 –High Level Protection
- This is covered by the Illegal logging Prohibition Act 2012.
- This law makes it an offence to intentionally, knowingly or recklessly import illegal timber or timber products.
- This affects any business importing any timber products into Australia.
- This law came into effect in November 2012.
Element 2 –Due Diligence
- This is covered by the Illegal logging Prohibition Regulation 2012.
- This regulation requires business to assess and manage the risk of importing timber products. In other words, Due Diligence.

FREEDOM MUST UNDERTAKE DUE DILIGENCE ON ALL TIMBER PRODUCTS.
- This affects any business importing certain timber products into Australia and this covers all timber products that Freedom purchase.
- This law came into effect in November 2014.

Documentation Required by Freedom
- All new items containing the above materials must have the below questionnaire filled in : illegally logged Timber - Supplier Questionnary
- Supply supporting documentation for any new items containing the above materials
General Requirements for all Suppliers
- All suppliers must comply with both Elements of the law.
- All suppliers must ensure they can meet Due Diligence requirements by:
- Knowing the materials that make up your product
- Knowing their scientific and common name of the materials
- Knowing the country of harvest, region and forest harvesting unit where the materials came from
- Knowing the chain of custody from the harvesting unit to the finished product
- Supplying documentation to Freedom that can support the above information such as:
- Invoices
- Business Licenses
- Contracts
- 3rd Party and Government certificates
- Any other relevant Documents
- Answering the Timber Questionnaire
- Carrying out any risk mitigation as directed by Freedom if clear risks have been identified
- Maintain up-date-records of timber materials
- Fill in this document when supplying a new product
